Spirituality in so many ways is love made manifest. How does one talk about divine love or even human love for that matter? How can something so wonderful and transcendental be reduced to mere words and ideas? All we can truly know or honestly share is thru our direct experiences.
There comes a time of awakening when the search for happiness leads one beyond the mundane world of seeking pleasure, sex, money, power, prestige, comfort and security. One begins to see that true, lasting happiness and fulfillment is found only by deeply surrendering to one's true nature or authentic self. This important realization marks the beginning of true self acceptance, love and a deeply rewarding spiritual life.
In a moment of inspiration, you may sense that you are profoundly more then your identification with your body, feelings and intellect. When identification with thoughts is released, you may get a glimpse of "Oneness". You may realize (directly know) that in essence we are all part of something vast. Something far beyond our ability to conceptualize. This experience is a melt down for just about anyone who receives even a drop of God's infinite love, mercy and forgiveness.
There exists a "zero point" within the heart of man that contains the entire universe and is filled with divine light. Many mystics, sages and saints throughout the centuries have glimpsed that creation point and know directly the profound truth of the "I Am" or "Oneness" as a result.
I have realized a common theme in all that I call my "spiritual practice". That simple truth or basis is to release any clinging to thoughts or feelings of separation regardless of what my mundane senses tell me. I have found that when there is "no separation" between the meditation and the one meditating then all of life becomes a meditation. This results in great inner freedom and joy which is not dependent on external events and not separate from them either.
is inherent in self-knowing.

What if more people tasted this expansiveness and joy by being fully present and living in a non-dualistic reality? Wouldn't we be much more loving towards each other? Would not the world be gradually transformed? I believe that even if the outer world continues as it is, we will find a wonderful, inner world that is timeless and full of love and peace.
The Buddha compared people to four
kinds of clay vessels.
To live consciously, it's vital to become aware of "who" is having this experience called life? Following your thoughts back into the unknown SOURCE deep within yourself, you can start to see your true Self as pure radiant awareness itself. Then, gently (without judgment) investigate what motivates your behavior. You may be surprised to see how your unexamined past conditioning has made a mental prison of fear based belief systems of oughts and shoulds. Less surprising but equally true is the suffering that results from clinging to sense gratification and desire based agendas such as the "sexual seduction game." These patterns of programmed behavior can keep you from experiencing the boundless awareness. love and joy that is your true Self.
For example, how can you attack or be discourteous when you know and/or feel intensely that you really are only hurting yourself? Conversely, when loving others, aren't you really loving another aspect of yourself?
True love can only occur when we stop seeing the "other" as an object to have our (sexual) desires fulfilled through. Unfortunately, many people spend the greater part of their lives being a slave to powerful hormonal urges or ego desires for power and glory. Transforming lust to love allows us to enjoy a higher vibration and helps quiet the restlessness of our monkey minds. Realizing that our ego's are nothing but a collection of thoughts from the past, frees us up to be fully present NOW.
These are powerful times, and more and more people are realizing that the world is shrinking and how interconnected we are on many levels. Many are working towards being more environmentally conscious for the health and survival of our race. However, as long as maximization of profits and greed are our prime motivators, we've got a long uphill battle ahead.
On a personal level, world peace begins with each of us learning how to be more loving and how to deal with our anger and frustrations in constructive ways. I know many people who are still using drugs to open themselves to a deeper reality. I can appreciate that certain drugs can temporally change the way we view ourselves and the world and also help loosen the knot of ego attachment. This often gives the person a glimpse of a more expansive reality and that is very appealing because we all want to feel free and unlimited by the constraints of our conditioning. If a person, once gaining this "glimpse" starts to do the inner work then there is no problem.
However, drugs can disrupt and unbalance the normal functioning of the person especially if done frequently. The spiritual problem with drug use is that they usually don't provide a continuous link from normal to an expanded awareness. Therefore, those using drugs often become increasingly dependent on them to "get high" instead of just naturally "being high". Another problem occurs is that the "spiritual discipline" needed to meditate or surrender deeply is often eroded by impatience or a desire for the "quick fix". Those who meditate frequently experience a gradual awakening, or natural unfolding and expansion of awareness. The path to this expanded state is continuous and repeatable without any need for drugs.
There are some exceptions to this situation involving special "vision quests" or sacred rituals where drugs are used in a focused way in a group setting. However that is far cry from the recreational use of drugs that most people indulge in.
We are all holograms* of the world and through forgiveness and letting go of our past wounds we can become more peaceful and present. Then our hearts will become purer and more available for love. Before pointing your finger and blaming another person, be aware and take responsibility for the four fingers pointing back to yourself. Let's be authentic and also cut each other some slack so we all can "live and let live" in peace on this spaceship called Earth.
* Holograms in the sense that each of us contains the totality viewed from our unique vantage point or perspective.
In the summer of 2001 I had a very scary, close call while riding a new motorcycle. Since I hit the pavement at 50 mph with no protective clothing - except my helmet, I was very lucky and grateful to walk away from this accident with only several painful bruises and road rash. Besides showing how important protective clothing is, it also made me realize how important it is to fully feel and embrace each precious moment. All we have for sure is right now because we never know if tomorrow will come. It also made me acknowledge how precious life is and to communicate my love and authentic self to the people in my life.

I was planning to share much of this information at some vague, undefined future date. However, there are no accidents and this "love tap" strongly motivated me to share now what I have been generously given by Spirit over the years. So I spent my two weeks mostly in bed, healing and dressing my wounds and putting this web site together.
Although words cannot do justice to what I am about to relate to you, I hope that something I share here will resonate with an experience you've had or may have soon. On a more transpersonal level, I am really just talking to another aspect of myself.
I knew something was quite different in my reality due to a startling early childhood experience. At the age of 5 years, the seed of spiritual awakening was activated. While walking up the stairs to my apartment in Brooklyn, a spiritual presence filled me with an expanded awareness, peace and a glorious love-light that goes beyond concepts. I felt completely immersed in an delicious bath of love and light. I had become a "Star Kid" and began to share an expanded awareness that was well beyond years in that tiny body.
The sharing of this "Star reality" washed away the mundane world and any cares or thoughts I had were immediately replaced with a sense of wonder of the profound, infinite majesty of the living spirit. I could understand what was going on directly through a melting away of my boundaries and allowing this loving energy in. Using pure thought, this presence communicated that it was always with me and loved me and for this I am eternally grateful.
Right afterwards, I tried to talk about what happened to me with my mother who was the most open in the family. However, as a young child, I didn't have the vocabulary to describe it. There also was little support for a spiritual or mystical reality at home. What existed was a traditional, cultural Jewish perspective with no recognition or appreciation for the direct anointment of spirit. After trying my best to communicate something and seeing the look of dismay and confusion on my mother's face, I decided it was best to remain silent. So I stored this sacred happening away in memory intuiting that one day the environment would be right to discuss it.
As I was growing up, I observed that many adults seemed overly serious and often unhappy. I could appreciate that the daily pressures of making a living and the difficulties in dealing with others was often very trying. However, I didn't understand why they were not aware of their own internal fountain of spiritual joy. I soon realized that they put their trust in the impermanent things of this world which could offer only temporary satisfaction or happiness. So even as a small child, my intention was to keep life simple, stay positive and to honor the living spirit of freedom and love within.
I observed that most people identify with the images being projected. They are too blinded by the clinging to thoughts to see this screen (field of pure awareness) that is untouched by all thoughts and images. The closest analogy is akin to the screen as the infinite sky and the thoughts are like clouds drifting across it. The sky is untouched by these clouds which only exist for a short time. The sky remains pristine and untouched for eternity regardless of whatever images come and go.
The Eastern Religions helped me gain a better understand of what I experienced. I also explored Jewish and Christian Mysticism, Kabala and several Yoga systems.
I observed that many people are living in their own mental movie, identifying with their character (ego) and taking it all as very real. It is relatively real, but just as the weather changes daily it is only temporary. Whatever is born must eventually die, however what is unborn never dies but exists for eternity.
Here is a wonderful love letter from Almighty God - Jehovah:
Yes it is profoundly true that Jesus awakens a new life when you accept his loving sacrifice for all our human sins and accept him as your Lord and Savior. He truly makes all things new and gives our life a fresh new perspective and start. Instead of being so ego driven, we realize our wisest action is to do the special mission God wills for us to please and glorify Him. Most people stop right here in their inner work and that is fine. However, I am compelled by the unbounded awesomeness of God to go deeper into this wonderful mystery called life.
Our Lord works in strange and wonderful ways. The mercy of the Living Spirit (God) revealed a profound reality that was camouflaged by my identification with mundane, desire based limited thinking and "maya". Most people are born into or adopt a philosophy or religion and then manufacture some experience around it to validate it.
I believe it is more auspicious to have a direct experience first and, if necessary, find a philosophy or belief system that attempts to explain the experience. The problem with going the other way around is that our minds can create hallucinations to align with the belief system to validate it.
Thoughts are powerful, creative energies and therefore it's wise to NOT hold negative thoughts or judgments about anything or anyone. Going to a Church or Temple can be helpful and spiritually inspiring. Our Creator has implanted a latent potential or spiritual seed within us that needs focused attention to grow and become strong.
Meditation is a way of examining the nature of our thoughts, emotions, sensations and following them to their source without any clinging. As we learn to dive deeper into our true selves we can discover our Wholeness, One-ness, Goodness and Peace. Diving deeper occurs through relaxed awareness and letting go of our "stories". It opens up our awareness for a direct experience of a timeless reality which can ultimately free us from the powerful clutches of Maya.
Maya, a Hindu term, describes the illusory power that conceals the living presence of our "CREATOR" from our normal senses. It blocks our awareness of "TRUTH" through our mundane grasping, desires, attachments and our identifications with the little "I" or false ego. Fortunately, if we cease to give these things our energy or attention, they soon lose their potency to affect us.
In the mid 70's, after working all day as an electronics engineer, I'd drive home and often meditate. I often heard a profoundly deep "OM" sound so I explored the Shabd system of inner sounds. I was studying and comparing several versions of the Gita and other Holy books of several religions including the Bible. One night, I felt a delightful tingling sensation while meditating. An intense energy was flowing through me. I felt my awareness "pop" out of my physical body and quickly expand. A deeply moving and intense LIGHT bathed me. I soon felt connected to everything and everyone this LIGHT touched. The screen of pure awareness upon which all my sensory experiences are projected was revealed.
Many people have had similar experiences using drugs or during a near death experience. However, this happened through meditation, chanting and prayer. I was both thrilled and shocked awake to my core. I experienced how I was living my life as if alone in a dark closet. Now the doorway to an expanded awareness was open again as it was in my youth. I was surrounded and filled by a powerful healing light of love and pure radiant awareness. My awareness expanded as I surrendered to the light and merged with it and it was blissful. I directly experienced that this light fills the entire universe and connects us all to it. In this sense, we are all one spiritual family regardless of our belief systems.
My identification with normal reality was shaken up and my priorities changed. As a result, working as a full time engineer ceased to be of interest. I realized that this role was largely about getting Mom & Dad's approval and the "upstairs office" wanted me to move on and explore other roles and settings. I quit my job and bought a small RV, traveled cross country and visited several wonderful spiritual communities along the way.
Our Creator has an unique plan for each person. Spirit being pure, boundless and eternal love, revealed that learning to love myself and then lovingly serve others unconditionally are most important. It was revealed that "LOVE" is the healer and learning to surrender to being a channel or expression of divine healing love is the primary reason I was incarnated here. Miracles are real and happen daily to those who have faith and the spiritual eyes to see as they are. Other beings may receive similar and/or different messages because we all perceive reality through the filtering system of our own experiences and conditionings and also naturally we may have different missions or jobs to do here.
The experience triggered the memory of my transforming spiritual anointment as a child. Much like us breathing air this light was akin to the infinite "Breath of God" and is sweet beyond words.
As my awareness expanded well past this galaxy into deep space, I sensed another awareness on the very edge of this created universe. Naturally I was curious who is playing this far out from home plate. So I sent out the thought form question "who are you"?
Immediately this awareness started to glide closer. As it got closer, I noticed two things right away. I started to feel dwarfed by it's rapidly expanding size and that resulted in a feeling of powerlessness. I quickly went from feeling very expanded, large and powerful to feeling defenseless and vulnerable like a tiny ant that could be easily crushed in an instant.
I wanted to see what presence resided within this vast sphere of pure energy. Although now trembling inside, I asked again: "who are you"? The response came loudly through pure thought transference:
"To know me, you must fully surrender and die to all that you identify with as yourself."
I intuited that this included all my ego identification, voluntary control of my body and even staying alive! I became fearful that I might soon be jumping out of a 6th story of the high rise with no ability to control my actions! I quickly realized that if the experiencer is no longer alive, what is my motivation for taking this final leap? Although it took some surrender to get this far, I realized that I was not yet ready to fully dissolve or die to get closer or merge with this awesome unknown. Right now, I am happy with having a personal relationship and a conscious life to live- thank you!
The outcome of full surrender was final absorption or sudden death of my body - neither of which I found appealing. I was also very aware these thoughts might just be the workings of an ego that doesn't wish to fully surrender. However, there was too much at stake so I humbly begged for more time on this plane before taking this final step. Spirit first asked me to reconsider and then granted my wish and I felt a big sense of relief. Since then, I found others who shared a similar reality.
Love and fear are opposites and, therefore like oil and water, they do not mix well with each other. Making a declaration to choose love is an important first step on spiritual journey. However, how can we come from a place of love when we didn't get the proper modeling and loving when we were growing up?
Most of us didn't have enlightened parents who loved us unconditionally. Most parents received fear based conditioning and they automatically passed this programming on to us. This programming interferes with being relaxed and natural and in harmony with our nature. This results in the creation of mental filters which color our perception and interpretation and thus keep us from seeing things as they truly are.
To release this harmful programming and start the healing process, it is wise to set aside time each day to relax and meditate. In this way we become aware of what thoughts create a sense of separation between ourselves and others. We see what keeps our hearts closed and what mental programs keeps us feeling stuck in unrewarding life scripts.
To move forward, I choose to recognize, honestly confront, and finally release these negative internal programs. These fear producing programs result in running adrenaline which contract my awareness and ability to love. As I go deeper into a state of relaxation and well being, the power of these programs weakens until they have no influence on my day to day interactions. When relaxed, I feel an inner joy or glow of happiness that is not due to any external situation in my life.
I am very grateful for a personal relationship with the Lord, Spirit or God. This has allowed me to ask for and receive help when I have stumbled along the path. Although I'd like to believe otherwise, I am all too human with all the usual fears, temptations and weaknesses most of us have to contend with. Therefore I appreciate all the help I can get to stay free from maya and unhealthy desires. To this day, learning to stay relaxed and open, having the right associations, surrendering to God's will and appreciation for the simple things of life helps deepen my awareness and appreciation of the living Spirit.
It's important to not get too caught up in the worldly matters. Jesus was right on the mark when he said: "Be in the world but not of it". Therefore, my intention is to develop dispassion via a personal relationship with GOD through prayer, meditation, surrender and service. I have met many people who have been illumined, awakened and transformed by the living spirit. They have helped me and countless others feel the sweet, fulfilling sacredness/holiness in living a day to day 'ordinary' Spirit-full life.
Whom we associate with is especially important in making progress on our path.
I have been blessed with the association of many wonderful spiritual friends, teachers and masters in my lifetime. These folks are easy to recognize since their eyes twinkle and shine with the wonder of being touched by divine awareness and love. Receiving teachings and spiritual transmissions from Jewish and Christian mystics, Advaita (non-dualism), Vaishnav (Krishna Consciousness-devotional service -descending path) to Zen (Oneness reality-beyond all attainment, abiding and dualities), helps me see through the veil of maya and appreciate an awareness that goes beyond conceptual belief systems.
Sanghas or spiritual communities are available in many forms. Shown below is an example of a musically based cyber-community that helps folks get aquainted, share their interests which could lead to developing friendships and beyond.
Shown below are some pictures of divine beings that have helped countless millions find the eternal truth that lies within the core of their being. Each of them exemplifies a transmission and a way of living in the world that honors the living spirit. These transcendental beings came to help awaken our spiritual nature so that the spirit of love and service to humanity continues on through us. They embody and radiate a direct transmission of pure love and spiritual healing energy for anyone who is truly open and ready to receive it.
Pictured above are just a few of the many wonderful beings who have touched my heart. You may also feel a connection with one or more of them too. Or perhaps you already have (or will soon meet) someone "special" in your life that truly inspires you to your highest, loving and creative potential?
The Lord is unlimited and there are countless others who have been empowered to awaken devotion and a deeper awareness of pure love in those fortunate enough to have been blessed by their association. Under the disguise of form lies the same eternal, all knowing God who also resides in each of our hearts. The mature spiritual person is fully awake to this inner guru. Those who are not fully "cooked" are distracted by their clinging to sense gratification and false ego.
Many masters have shared their love and compassion. The TRUTH spontaneously outpours from those blessed and Divinely chosen to help awake and uplift humanity to a new, more expansive and unconditional loving way of being. Sometimes don't even have to utter a single word to have this powerful impact for they live and radiate a "Presence" that helps awaken those in their association.
The words or ideas they share is just the tip of the iceberg of the transmission work they do. To stay fixed only on their ideas might limit your experience to the mental plane. An empowered/awake being lives both in the mundane and in a timeless, transcendental universe which is also known as the Kingdom of Heaven. These beings represent a paradoxical reality of pure essence or suchness that is not understandable to the unawakened. Their presence serves as a mirror for us to see ourselves as we are. They are a living bridge to the "Unknown". All things are comprised of this essence which is the true "Source" of everything and no-thing.
Spiritual transmissions work on a much deeper level then the intellect can comprehend. Transmissions help to develop intuition and increase the ability to relate with more heartfelt authenticity and genuine love to oneself and the world. As we awaken to this boundless Source, the ego identification naturally relaxes and dissolves and we feel the aliveness of being fully present in each moment. There is also a deepening of profound joy in the heart and a fresh and renewed relationship with the living spirit which is now realized as one's own unborn and undying true self.
A personal relationship with someone who is awake or committed to a spiritual path is very helpful. This usually takes the form of a spiritual friend, teacher, lover, or a living guru. A real guru is empowered to act as God's representative and can help us wake up and release the karmic bindings from past misbehaviors. Here are some quotes from one recently departed Guru/Holy Man named Neem Karoli Baba who has helped bring the living dharma to the west via Ram Das (Richard Alpert). There is a peaceful, energy in the deep silence that surrounds these masters. What they share is much more then what they say, write or do. There is a potent, living transmission of spiritual energy from Master to Student that is empowered by the Source itself.
Many masters are "undercover." They don't ask for or require publicity because they are not looking for disciples or ego strokes. However, one must choose carefully. Some of the self-proclaimed masters or gurus, who are not empowered have gone on huge spiritual ego trips and are misleading anyone who puts their trust in them. This happens because if one plays the guru role before they are fully surrendered then their ego feeds on the adoration and attention and quickly grows out of control.
These false gurus don't feel humble but they often display false humility to fool the unsuspecting seeker. Because they are self absorbed in their spiritual ego, they are more concerned with their position in the spiritual hierarchy then having any humility. However, there are no accidents in the world and the "cheaters often get cheated. Although you can learn something, it's best to avoid these fakes because they only want to enslave you to feed their spiritual ego.
Although a false Guru may speak (borrowed) words of wisdom, they are not free themselves and so they can not help free you from maya! When the right Master for you appears, your head and intuitive heart will know it. Although the path may feel rocky at times (due to past karmas), they are empowered to help you find your way home.
I find it amusing that throughout the world each culture creates an image of deity that resembles the locals. As we mature spiritually we will stop trying to limit GOD by reframing him in our image based on our limited human awareness, belief systems and conditioning.
"The ultimate teaching is not something which can be taught,
because the ultimate teaching is not a thing which can be grasped or clung to.”
God is truly beyond all our mundane concepts and beliefs. There is an impersonal (auric emanation or light) and personal aspect of divinity and much more that appears conceptually as a paradox however it can be experienced on a deeper, transcendental level directly through surrender and grace.
Our GOD is truly an awesome GOD!
Words are simply concepts and are therefore not the TRUTH. However, they can point to the transcendental TRUTH which can be experienced.
"It is only with the heart that one
can see rightly.
-Antoine de Saint Exurpery in The Little Prince
Following one's religion is a good starting off place. However, Religions are usually based on other people's realizations. Spirituality is the next step because it fosters you having your own personal realizations which results in a personal relationship with the Creator. It is also true however that a few fortunate people do gain insights and realizations within a religious framework. Unfortunately they are by far in a minority and if their inspired insights are not in alignment with the Doctrine of the Church or Institution they are usually expelled as being heretics.
Meditation has revealed that Divine energy/love/awareness is very alive NOW and continually operates throughout all planes of awareness from the mundane to the transcendental. It is mainly our attachment to our little "I" or false ego and it's psychological baggage of past conditioning that creates the illusion of separation from this grace.
We already embody the "divine spark" or potency and therefore we can discover or awaken to it by quieting our minds and opening our hearts. It is also possible to realize this by following our thoughts back to their Source. The key is to watch your thoughts without clinging or identifying with them, and then finally give up the thought of being the "watcher". This usually takes some inner work or meditation practice to accomplish. In the "Song of Mahamudra" one can find a powerful transmission that also outlines an effective approach to liberation and enlightenment.
The mental plane is very sticky like fly paper. Some folks live their entire lives on this plane because they trust their intellect more than that "still small voice within" their authentic center. They are usually skeptics of anything they can't understand with their linear, dualistic thinking. It is unfortunate that so many get stuck in their heads and lose the joyful wonder of having an open heart. Check out the Links page for more info on freeing oneself through self-development and self-realization.
Without help on some level, transcending maya is nearly impossible for most people. Here is a letter from Adana who is offering inspiring help for all of us. It is easy to speak or write about the spiritual trip, however walking the talk by living in harmony with spirit and dharma (the Law) is the acid test. It takes surrender, reflection, commitment and a sense of humor so that one does not take things too personally or oneself too seriously.
Ultimately divine mercy or grace can finally liberate us from the maya or illusion. According to New Testament - Romans, all the spiritual work we do is just preparation and honors the seed that was implanted before we were born. (Doctrine of Election) .
In the Jewish religion, it is a well know belief that you can always do T'Shuva or repent and return to God. However, there is a big difference between receiving grace as a pure gift and believing that you can earn it by righteous actions. Can one earn grace by their dharmic actions or is it truly a gift from the Divine?
This type of question deals with the paradox of pre-destination and therefore I will leave it for you to investigate for yourself. Our direct experiences are our best teacher for the path is found by walking it.
Enlightenment is timeless so when one awakens they realize that they were always awake but clinging (identification) to thoughts kept it hidden. "Past-present-future" is experienced as happening right NOW.
I wish you god-speed on your journey home!
Blessings and Namaste!
